CRYPTO 100 is a rules based index of the top 100 crypto assets, designed to work like the FTSE 100 for UK equities but for cryptoassets: a clear, independent index that anyone can track, license and use.

Rather than being a fund, an exchange, or a trading product, CRYPTO 100 is a neutral & independent index benchmark that sits alongside our Crypto Owl independent crypto educational platform as the long term, rules based “market” layer of our crypto education ecosystem. 

What CRYPTO 100 is  

• A rules based index of the top 100 cryptoassets selected using our unique VALT Score. CRYPTO 100 is not just a list of the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap. 
• CRYPTO 100 follows the top 100 leading cryptocurrencies using our replicable formula – prioritising volatility, adoption, liquidity and tokenomics (VALT Score) instead of just market cap.
• Designed to reflect a focused basket of the most traded, most established coins. This creates a less volatile, more focussed top 100 of cryptoassets.
• The riskier, more hype driven cryptoassets do not meet the VALT Score criteria and are excluded from CRYPTO 100 Index.
• Built to help the general public, platforms, and ETFs all share the same standard view of the crypto market.

How CRYPTO 100 works 

• VALT Score Adjusted Size principle: CRYPTO 100 blends market cap with a VALT Score (volatility, adoption, liquidity and tokenomics) to pick the top 100 assets.
• Caps and controls:  
• Weighting caps limit how big a single asset can become, including Bitcoin.
• The top 10 assets are also capped to keep the basket diversified.
• Regular rebalancing: the index is recalculated daily and rebalanced quarterly, so it stays aligned with the live market.  

Neurality and independence  

CRYPTO 100 is not owned or controlled by a single exchange or trading platform. It is administered by Crypto Owl, with documented governance, controls, and oversight aligned with international benchmark regulation expectations.

However:

• Assets are selected and weighted using published rules, not commercial deals.  
• Being an affiliate partner never guarantees a place in the index, nor does it block removal if an asset no longer meets the rules.  
• Our index based revenue (from licensing) is kept separate from our affiliate revenue.
